School Elections

On Thursday 8th June 2017, children in KS1 and KS2 took part in a whole school election to vote for who they would like to represent their class next year as part of School Ethos Council and Eco Council.

Earlier in the week children in KS2 wrote speeches and performed them to their peers in class in order to gain support and hopefully votes that would secure them a win. As part of our British Values lessons, classes learnt about democracy and discussed the General Election that was taking place. They learnt all about the party leaders who wanted to be elected Prime Minister and how in the past some people were not allowed to vote.

Once all the speeches from the children were done and the candidates were confirmed then the election day could begin.

The children came to a polling station in school and on ballot papers voted for who they wanted to win.  Votes were counted and verified by members of Y6 and the winners will be announced in September ready for the new academic year.
